The member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, has commended the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his approval for the rehabilitation of roads across the State.
Hon Nwaobi spoke on Tuesday, 9th June, 2020, at the site of the ongoing rehabilitation work along the Issele-Uku/Ubulu-Okiti/Otulu road where he had gone for an on the spot assessment of the level of work.
Nwaobi who chairs the works committee of the State House of Assembly, said that the State Government, in line with its stronger Delta Agenda, was rehabilitating not only the Issele/Ubulu-Okiti/Otulu road, but also carrying out intervention works on Oghara/Aja road, the Hospital road in Oghara as well as the Ibori road also in Oghara, adding that the projects are being handled by the state interventionist Agency, Delta State Direct Labour Agency, DLA.
The Honourable member expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the agency and assured that in a few days, they would be able to complete the work for the benefit of the users of the roads.
“DLA is an interventionist agency; this is just an intervention for the areas they are working on at the moment. It is not a reconstruction or total asphalt work. We are looking at the very major failed potions of these roads that I have mentioned earlier. These are the areas they are trying to patch up and do overlay to enable the road users have smooth drive on them,” Nwaobi clarified.
He congratulated the beneficiaries of the roads being rehabilitated and urged them to continue to pray for the State Governor, assuring that the State Government will regularly intervene in all the places that need such urgent intervention, across the state.
Meanwhile, the Member representing Aniocha North State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly has used the opportunity of the occasion of their one year anniversary in the 7th Assembly today, June 10th, 2020, to appreciate his constituents for finding him worthy to represent them for a second term, saying that his social contract with the people of Aniocha North remains sacrosanct.
“I want to thank and appreciate my people of Aniocha North State Constituency for their support and cooperation. By the grace of God, I pledge my unalloyed loyalty and determination to continuously support their yearnings and aspirations, one of which is what you are experiencing by way of rehabilitation of this road which is very critical to them.
“The Delta State Government is intervening on the road for the fact that as a people who voted for all of us, the road is needed for easy link among the contiguous communities. It is because they voted for us who are in office today, that is why they are benefiting what they are seeing today and I want to assure them that better days are ahead.
“I sincerely urge our people to continue to give us the support and by the grace of God, we will do our best to ensure they enjoy democracy as it stands,” the Honourable member stated.
Hon. Nwaobi also spoke on the significance of June 12, describing it as a unique day in the annals of Nigeria History, when they transited from military rule to representative democracy.
He noted that by all standards, Democracy remains the best form of Government, saying that Nigerians have continued to benefit from representative democracy for over 20 years, which he noted, has given the people the opportunity to participate in the policies and actions of Government.
“As Democracy stands today worldwide, it remains the best system of Government and we do not pray to return to military government. We want to remain in democracy where everybody can express their views and life continues to be smooth at will.
“I therefore enjoin my people to continue to support the government of today, so that they will continue to benefit the dividends of democracy,” Nwaobi concluded.
