Commissioning the Post, Mr. Hafiz Mohammed, represented by the Police Area Commander,  Ogwashi-Uku Area Command of the Nigeria Police, Mr Uche Obiozor, commended the people of Obomkpa for putting their resources together towards making a Police Post in the community a reality, saying that security is not the responsibility of the security agencies alone, but the collective responsibility of everybody.

“All those who have made it possible for this police post to be put in place including the Chairman of the Council, I thank you all.

“On behalf of the Commissioner of Police and at large the Inspector General of Police, I promise you, the residents and other neighbouring persons, that this Post will be put to maximum use to insure your security and your peaceful coexistence.

“I will equally implore you to note that you take this as your pet project to community policing arrangement. Your Vigilante is meant to assist to a great extent what you have here being that they are the representatives of the community.

“Take your efforts on this project as your contribution to community policing and again I thank you for your promise to ensure the smooth running of this Post. I know you are capable and you can. And then, the best of it all is information, the police work with information. Always volunteer information for the police to work with,” the Police boss pleaded.

In her appreciation, Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission and a notable Political leader in the State, Chief Nkem Okwuofu who is from Obomkpa, went down memory lane and commended those who are instrumental to the building of the Post, that would have loved to be part of the commissioning, but could not, for the fact that they are no more alive to witness the event.

“I will not finish this thank you without remembering some persons who cheerfully ought to have been here today, but are not here because they have left us and have gone to meet with the Lord God Almighty.

They were all instrumental to what is being done today. There are people who are around to start a job; there are others who are around to finish it. We are lucky to be around to finish the job and see it commissioned today and take over by the Nigeria Police Force. May God bless them wherever they are and may they rest in perfect peace with their God in Jesus Name,’’ Okwuofu prayed.

“We hope to bring the Police Authority closer to the community in line with the policy thrust of the present administration that hinges on community policing. This is one gesture the Obomkpa people have committed to do and today we bless the Almighty God for this achievement.

“We want to appreciate the Police Authority for that gesture and we hope and believe that crime and criminality will take its exit and we will begin to have peaceful Obomkpa, a more convivial environment and a united people to live and coexist under the canopy of the Lord God Almighty.” Hon.
