A sociocultural organization made up of selected Youths of Issele-Mkpitime, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, CLUB DE ACADAS, has provided and installed about 20 Solar Street Lights across the Issele-Mkpitime Community.
The street lights were formally inaugurated in a brief but impressive ceremony on the night of 26th December, 2020 by the immediate past President General of Issele-Mkpitime Federal Union, IMFU, Mr. Achomuba Chukwudi.
It was also witnessed by the newly elected President General of the IMFU, Mr. Oge Okwuka, an illustrious son of the Community, Barr. Bolum Chukwudi and executive members of the CLUB DE ACADAS which included the Councilor representing ward 5 Issele-Mkpitime/Issele-Azagba in the Legislative Arm of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Ikenwa.
In his address at the event, the club president, Mr Ezekiel Nwabuokei-Okafor, said the provision of the solar street lights across the Issele-Mkpitime community was in response to the recent reconnection of the town to the National Grid of electricity supply through the conceited efforts of illustrious sons of the Community.
Mr Nwabuokei-Okafor, who was represented by Hon. Emmanuel Ikenwa, revealed that the provision of the street lights by the Club, stem from their conviction as progressives, that the project will go a long way, not only in the provision of security, but in turning around the social and economic life of the people of Issele-mkpitime for good, especially at night.
“Today, we are happy to deliver and commission the first phase of the streetlight project to the good people of Issele-Mkpitime. This achievement is yet another landmark of our great club and a testimony of team work, friendship and collaboration within our club.
‘We therefore want to use this opportunity to call on men and women of goodwill, youth at home and abroad to come and join hands with CLUB DE ACADAS as we continue in our effort to deliver our development programmes to the community we love from birth,” the club president stated.
He noted that the CLUB, established over 22 years ago with the objective of promoting education and the overall development of Issele-Mkpitime has emerged as one of the leading platform for youth empowerment and community development while listing the club’s developmental strides over the years to include:
Construction of two roundabouts in the Community, payment of WAEC exam fees for all final year students who have their registration in the only secondary school in the town as well as construction and installation of sign post at strategic locations around the town.
Also listed as the achievements of the Club was the construction of an underground water tank at the Okalete Secondary School, equipping Corper’s lodge in the community with furniture and bedding and scholarship awards to deserving students from Issele-Mkpitime.
Commissioning the project, the immediate past PG of Issele-Mkpitime Federal Union, Mr. Achomuba Chukwudi commended the patriotic zeal of the members of the Club and said that they have in their own way helped in no small measure in the development of the community while praying that God will continue to sustain and keep them.
Highpoint was the official cutting of the tape to signal the inauguration of the solar street lights, thereafter, guests retired to the home of Hon. Ikenwa where he hosted them to a sumptuous dinner.
