The 2027 re-election bid of the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON has received a massive boost with the reception and prayers for him by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Elumelu who has been on consultative visits to the party leadership in the local government areas in his Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency was on Thursday, March 11, 2026 treated to a rousing reception at an interactive meeting with party leaders, critical stakeholders and members in Akwukwu-Igbo, the administrative headquarters of the Local Government Area signaling a consensual support for him ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the meeting were the Oshimili North APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Nnabuefi Ojogbua, members of the Local Government and Ward Executive Committees, as well as other critical stakeholders across the ten wards of the Local Government Area.
Elumelu, who was accompanied by members of the Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu Campaign Council led by its Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor, used the meeting to formally intimate the party leadership of his intention to seek the APC ticket to contest the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election.
Addressing the gathering, he outlined the numerous developmental initiatives and opportunities attracted to the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency during his tenure in the House of Representatives, particularly noting that the constituency had at a time ranked among the most visible in the country in terms of human capital and infrastructure development.
He also drew attention to what he described as the worrisome decline in the level of representation currently experienced in the constituency, observing that the once highly visible constituency had gradually been relegated to the background due to ineffective representation.

Responding on behalf of the APC leadership in Oshimili North, the Local Government Party Chairman, Ogbueshi Nnabuefi Ojogbua, expressed appreciation for the visit and commended Rt. Hon. Elumelu for reaching out to the party leadership through consultation and engagement.
Ojogbua noted that the leadership of the party in the Local Government Area would carefully consider the consultation and take a decision that would serve the overall interest of the APC, particularly in ensuring overwhelming victory for the party in the forthcoming general election.
He also offered prayers for Elumelu and wished him well in his political aspirations on behalf of the APC leadership in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
Further reinforcing the mood of the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, delivered remarks on behalf of the leadership of the APC in the Local Government Area, conveying the collective position of the party structure following internal deliberations ahead of the meeting.
Esewezie disclosed that the entire APC structure in Oshimili North, comprising the Local Government leadership and executives from Ward 1 to Ward 10, were fully present at the meeting, demonstrating the seriousness with which the party leadership approached the consultation.
He revealed that the leadership of the party in the Local Government Area had, prior to the visit, carefully examined the political situation in Oshimili North and the broader Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and resolved to support Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu in his quest to secure the APC ticket for the House of Representatives seat.
The Oshimili North Council Chairman observed that the Local Government Area required a representative who would be actively involved in legislative processes and capable of attracting federal attention to the developmental needs of the people, rather than one who would merely occupy a seat without visible impact.
He also emphasized the need for federal representation that would complement the ongoing development efforts of the Delta State Government in the area, particularly in rapidly expanding communities such as Okpanam and other emerging urban settlements.
The remarks further conveyed the readiness of the APC leadership in Oshimili North to mobilize strategically ahead of both the party primaries and the general election, expressing confidence in the strength of the party structure across the Local Government Area.
The meeting concluded on a note of goodwill and optimism as Rt. Hon. Elumelu continues his consultations across the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in preparation for the 2027 electoral contest.
