The Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon Emmanuel Bazim Chinye, has been conferred with the Nigeria Local Government Excellence Award (LOGEXA) as the Overall Best Local Government Chairman in the South South Region of Nigeria.
Hon Chinye, represented by his Vice, Hon. Nneka Clara Dibia, was formally presented with the award, in an impressive ceremony held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the National Merit Award Auditorium, Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
According to the Organizers of the Nigeria Local Government Excellence Award, (LOGEXA), Hon Chinye was conferred with the award in recognition of his excellent performance and dedication to grassroots development, particularly in infrastructure and human capital development, within a period of eight months in office as the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government in Delta State.
Speaking through the Project coordinator, LOGEXA, IIesanmi Olayoriju, the Organizers highlighted the significance of the occasion and said the award aimed to promote and celebrate good governance at the grassroots level, noting that the selection process was thorough and rigorous.
Olayoriju underscored the importance of true Local Government autonomy, citing the July 2024 Supreme Court judgment that declared state-controlled Joint Accounts unconstitutional, even as he emphasized the need for financial independence, capacity-building programs and anti-corruption measures, to empower Local Government Areas to drive development.
While urging Hon Chinye to view the recognition as motivation for further excellence, the Project Coordinator, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Council boss, expressing hope that his success story would inspire others to drive positive change in their communities.
The event featured a workshop titled “Achieving True Local Government Autonomy in Nigeria: Policy, Challenges, and Management Strategies,” led by Dr. Adebanjo Moradeyo Otitoju.
The workshop explored innovations and ideas for accelerated grassroots development.
A special edition of ‘The Medals’ magazine, featuring the life of Hon Emmanuel Bazim Chinye and his administration’s dedicated efforts in the rebuilding of Aniocha North Local Government Area was unveiled during the ceremony.
