High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has distanced himself from a statement circulating on social media demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), within 21 days.
In a statement issued by Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Media Consultant to Tompolo, the Ijaw leader described the publication as the handiwork of his enemies who are out to discredit him due to his stance against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.
“Tompolo did not author the said publication. High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu,” the statement read.
The statement further reassured the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of Tompolo’s continued support for the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, particularly in the fight against illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta.
Tompolo also reaffirmed his endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term and vowed to work towards its realization.
The public is advised to ignore the fake publication, which is believed to be a ploy by Tompolo’s enemies to pull him down.
