As Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, prepares to inaugurate the newly completed Omadino Model Technical College in Warri South Local Government Area, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mr. Clement Siakpere, has commended the governor for what he described as giant strides in repositioning technical and vocational education in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Warri, Siakpere said the completion and inauguration of the Omadino Model Technical College underscored Governor Oborevwori’s strong commitment to skills-based education, youth empowerment and sustainable human capital development.
Siakpere, a former Registrar of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, noted that the renewed focus on technical education under the Oborevwori administration aligns with global best practices, where practical skills acquisition is increasingly recognised as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation.
According to him, the Omadino Model Technical College represents more than just an infrastructure project, but a strategic investment in the future of Delta youths, providing them with industry-relevant skills that would enhance employability, self-reliance and productivity.
He described the college as a critical component of the governor’s MORE Agenda, stressing that deliberate investments in education, particularly technical and vocational training, would significantly reduce youth unemployment and social dislocation across the state.
Governor Oborevwori is scheduled to inaugurate the Omadino Model Technical College on Monday, February 2, 2026. A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, disclosed that the ceremony will take place at the college premises by 10:00am, with guests expected to be seated by 9:30am.
The Omadino Model Technical College is one of the legacy projects inherited by the Oborevwori administration and has now been fully completed and equipped to deliver modern technical and vocational education.
The institution boasts purpose-built workshops, modern classrooms, laboratories and training facilities designed to meet contemporary technical education standards.
The college is expected to serve as a hub for producing skilled technicians, artisans and innovators capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.
Siakpere expressed confidence that the inauguration of the Omadino Model Technical College, coming after the completion of similar institutions in Asaba, Effurun and Obiaruku, further demonstrates the administration’s consistency in translating policy commitments into tangible outcomes.
He urged youths across the state to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the revamped technical colleges, describing them as viable pathways to personal development, economic empowerment and societal progress.
Stakeholders, educationists and community leaders are expected to attend the inauguration, which marks another milestone in Delta State’s drive to strengthen functional education and expand access to quality technical training.
