The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, on his recognition as Governor of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspaper, describing the award as a fitting tribute to purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
In a congratulatory message following the presentation of the awards at the 18th Leadership Newspaper Annual Conference and Awards held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, Elumelu commended Governor Oborevwori’s prudent financial management, noting that the administration’s responsible spending culture has ensured that the state continues to make remarkable progress without resorting to borrowing.
Elumelu praised the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development across the three senatorial districts of Delta State in line with his administration’s MORE Agenda initiative, stating that the completed and ongoing projects reflect a balanced and inclusive approach to governance.
According to him, the administration’s proactive policies and programmes have brought visible growth across various sectors of the economy, uplifting the lives of the people while fostering a renewed sense of hope and prosperity.
He further noted that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style has strengthened peace, unity and cordiality among political leaders and citizens across party lines, describing the governor as a bridge-builder whose fairness and inclusiveness have deepened democratic values in the state.
The former Minority Leader also highlighted the governor’s contributions to national development, stressing that his collaborative engagements and people-focused initiatives have positioned Delta State as a model of responsible governance within the federation.
“Your Excellency’s good governance has translated into peace, growth and sustainable development, bringing joy to the people of Delta State,” Elumelu stated, adding that the honour bestowed by Leadership Newspaper is well deserved.
On behalf of the entire Elumelu family, the former minority leader congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the recognition and prayed for greater wisdom, strength and divine enablement to advance sustainable development and human empowerment initiatives that will continue to promote peace and stability under his administration’s MORE Agenda in alignment with the Renewed Hope vision.
