A prominent political leader in Delta State, Chief Nkem Okwuofu (Agunwanyi), has sympathised with Mr. Tony Elumelu and his wife, Dr. Awele Elumelu, over the demise of their father and father-in-law, Chief Israel Ogbue, who passed on at the age of 99.
In a condolence message made available on Saturday, Chief Okwuofu described the late former Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) as an accomplished elder statesman whose life was marked by humility, kindness and devotion to family.
Chief Israel Ogbue, father to Dr. Awele Elumelu and father-in-law to Mr. Tony Elumelu, Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation and Chairman of UBA Plc, was eulogised as a complete gentleman who deeply loved his family and was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone who crossed his path.
According to Chief Okwuofu, the nonagenarian was a good husband, a caring father to his children and a doting grandfather who lived a life worthy of emulation. She noted that his kindness, generosity and fatherly guidance would be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
She urged Mr. Tony Elumelu, Dr. Awele Elumelu and the entire Ogbue family of Onicha-Olona to be consoled by the fond memories of their late patriarch and the impactful life he lived.
Chief Okwuofu thanked God for blessing Chief Ogbue with a long and fulfilled life and prayed that his children would surpass him, even in age and accomplishments.
She further prayed that the Almighty God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant the soul of Chief Israel Ogbue eternal rest and perfect peace.
