The Aniocha North Local Government Council has commenced the enforcement of regulations guiding the placement and operation of billboards within the Local Government Area, directing all billboard owners to present themselves for verification and approval within seven days.
The directive was contained in a public notice issued by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Kennedy Okoh, on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye.

According to the notice dated June 2, 2026, the Council’s Environmental and Revenue Committee observed with concern the increasing non compliance with extant laws regulating the erection and operation of billboards across the Local government Area.
Hon Okoh stated that the development has necessitated a renewed enforcement drive aimed at ensuring proper regulation, environmental orderliness and compliance with approved standards.
The Local Government therefore directed all individuals, organizations and businesses that currently own billboards within Aniocha North Local Government Area to report to the Chairman’s Office at the Council Secretariat, Issele-Uku, within seven days from the date of publication of the notice for verification and approval of their structures.
The SLG further announced that all prospective billboard owners must henceforth obtain the necessary permit and approval from the Council before installing any billboard within the area.
He warned that failure to comply with the directive would attract sanctions, including the confiscation of unauthorized billboards and the imposition of violation fines in line with the relevant regulations.
Hon Okoh urged members of the public to take the notice seriously and cooperate with the Council to ensure an orderly environment and effective revenue administration in the interest of sustainable development within Aniocha North Local Government Area.
