President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the Osun State governorship election, describing the victory as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday, said he had earlier called Governor Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the President said.
He wished the governor success as he prepares to lead the state for another four years, urging him to unite the people of Osun State and mobilise them towards growth, stability, as well as social and economic progress, irrespective of their political choices during the election.
President Tinubu also commended the other contestants for the courage and discipline they demonstrated throughout the electoral process, noting that their participation had further enriched Nigeria’s democratic culture.
According to him, the outcome of the election reflected the will of the people and reaffirmed that democracy would continue to thrive in the country.
The President further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
He urged Governor Adeleke to make the unity and development of Osun State the priority of his second term, while congratulating the people of the state for their participation in the democratic process.
