President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated with Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, urging them to draw inspiration from the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The President, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the celebration as an opportunity for Muslims to go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet by engaging in introspection, prayer and a deeper appreciation of his exceptional virtues.
President Tinubu urged the faithful to make deliberate efforts to uphold the values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad, particularly devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness.
He said the lessons from the Prophet’s life remained relevant to the building of a peaceful, compassionate and united society, urging Muslims to reflect these virtues in their daily lives and commitment to the nation.
The President also called on Islamic scholars and other religious leaders to use the Maulud period to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad into acts of patriotism, service and concern for the wellbeing of others.
He particularly appealed to Muslims celebrating the festival to remember the needy and vulnerable by extending a hand of fellowship and sharing with those less privileged, in keeping with the spirit of compassion associated with the occasion.
President Tinubu further called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges confronting parts of the country, expressing the hope that the occasion would strengthen the nation’s collective resolve to overcome its difficulties and foster greater peace and unity.
He congratulated the Muslim faithful once again and urged them to make the values celebrated during Eid-el-Maulud a lasting part of their conduct beyond the festivities.
