The political, business and traditional elite on Wednesday converged on Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, as Innocent Oborevwori, son of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, traditionally married his heartthrob, Tobore Arigbodi, daughter of prominent businessman and Managing Director of Librod Energy Limited, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi.
The colourful traditional marriage ceremony, held at the Arigbodi family’s country home, attracted an array of distinguished personalities from across Delta State and beyond, including serving and former political office holders, traditional rulers, business leaders and other prominent Nigerians.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme; former governors, Chief James Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Senator Ede Dafinone; the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR; Hon. Francis Waive; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON; and Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Barr. Chiedu Ebie.
The ceremony also attracted several prominent businessmen, including Chief Victor Egukawhore, Chief Eta Enahoro, Chief Tunde Smooth, Chief Johnbull Ejovi, Chief Tony Oboroh and Chief John Oguma.
Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Local Government Council which included Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye of Aniocha North, senior government officials, political leaders, community stakeholders and other dignitaries were also in attendance.
Conducted in line with Urhobo customs and traditions, the ceremony provided a rich display of the cultural heritage of the Urhobo people, as both families formally sealed the union of their children amid traditional rites, music, dancing and celebrations.
The event also provided an opportunity for political leaders, business associates, traditional rulers, friends and well-wishers to celebrate with the two families and share in the joy of the occasion.
Governor Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, alongside the parents of the bride, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi and his wife, were visibly elated as they welcomed guests and exchanged pleasantries with the distinguished personalities who attended the ceremony.
Adding further colour and excitement to the celebration was a lively musical performance by Port Harcourt-based ace musician, Duncan Mighty, who thrilled guests with some of his popular songs.
The gathering, which brought together influential figures across political, business, traditional and social circles, also reflected the goodwill and relationships enjoyed by the Oborevwori and Arigbodi families.
As the celebration continued, guests offered prayers and goodwill messages to the newly married couple, wishing them a peaceful, prosperous and enduring union as they embark on their marital journey together.
