Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has taken his grassroots mobilisation campaign to Ward 9 in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, urging eligible voters to support his return to the House of Representatives on the platform of the APC.
Elumelu made the appeal on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when he visited Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, where he met and interacted with eligible voters from Units 12, 13, 14 and 15 of Ward 9, within the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
The engagement formed part of his ongoing consultations and mobilisation across the Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
Elumelu was accompanied on the visit by members of his campaign council and other political associates.
Addressing the voters, Elumelu appealed for their mandate, saying that if returned to the House of Representatives, he would build on his previous record of representation and continue to attract federal interventions and development projects to Aniocha/Oshimili.
He said his experience in the National Assembly, including his tenure as Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives and his previous service as Chairman of the House Committee on Power and later Chairman of the House Committee on Health, had provided him with the opportunity to influence projects and interventions across the Federal Constituency.
Elumelu recalled that his representation had contributed to interventions in the power sector in Asaba and other parts of the constituency.
Among the projects he highlighted were power infrastructure interventions, including the 132/33KV transmission substation in Asaba, electricity distribution substations and related infrastructure designed to improve power supply.
According to him, his interventions were not restricted to electricity but extended to healthcare, education, security, roads, community infrastructure, skills development and empowerment.
In the health sector, Elumelu cited interventions at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, including infrastructural improvements and the establishment of the College of Nursing Sciences, which he noted had continued to impact positively on the people.
The renowned politician also recalled his interventions in the security sector, particularly the construction of staff accommodation and a clinic for the Department of State Services (DSS) in Asaba, as well as the renovation of DSS offices and premises across the four local government areas that make up the Federal Constituency.
He also pointed to his empowerment programmes and employment facilitation efforts as part of his representation, stressing that his objective had always been to ensure that federal presence translated into tangible benefits for constituents.
On the 2027 election, Elumelu urged the people of Ward 9 to work with other stakeholders in the APC to deliver the party’s candidates across the ballot.
He specifically called on the voters to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for Delta North Senatorial District, himself as the APC House of Representatives candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and Hon. Bridget Anyafulu for the State House of Assembly.
According to him, having the President, Governor, Senator, House of Representatives member and State House of Assembly member working on the same political platform would create greater opportunities for coordinated representation and development.
Elumelu said such political alignment would enable him to pursue more federal projects and interventions for the people of Aniocha/Oshimili when he is sworn in as their representative in the House of Representatives, by the grace of God and through the mandate of the people.
He therefore appealed to the voters to vote en masse for the APC candidates in the January and February 2027 elections, stressing the need for unity and collective support for the party at all levels.
Responding to the former Minority Leader, speakers at the meeting commended what they described as his record of constituency engagement and development interventions.
They recalled projects and interventions associated with his previous representation and expressed support for his 2027 bid, pledging to mobilise voters in their respective units for Elumelu and the APC candidates.
Some of the speakers said the experience of the 2023 election had provided lessons for the electorate, declaring that they were prepared to work together and would not repeat what they described as the mistakes of the past.
The Ward 9 engagement is part of a wider grassroots mobilisation effort by Elumelu and the APC as the party intensifies consultations across Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North and Oshimili South ahead of the 2027 general election.
For Elumelu, the ward-level meetings provide an opportunity to continue reconnecting directly with voters, present his record of representation and seek their mandate for a return to the House of Representatives
