Aniocha North LG Chairman’s Wife Flags Off Measles-Rubella Sensitization Drive

The wife of the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Mrs. Tina Chinye, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, led the official flag-off of the Measles and Rubella Vaccination Sensitization Campaign in the area.

The ceremony, held at the Local Government Skills Acquisition Centre and Multi-purpose Hall in Issele-Uku, drew stakeholders from across the local government and beyond.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nneka Dibia; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rafael Uzor, Councillors of the Local Government, representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF); as well as nursing mothers, market leaders, and faith-based groups.

In her address, Mrs. Chinye described the campaign as a “critical step” in securing the health and future of children in Aniocha North. She noted that although measles and rubella are preventable, they remain a threat, especially to vulnerable groups, stressing that the sensitization drive was a reminder of the shared responsibility in protecting every child.

She expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health, development partners, health professionals, community leaders, and volunteers for their support, saying their roles were central to ensuring the campaign reaches “every household, every school, and every community” in the local government.

Mrs. Chinye urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to take full advantage of the vaccination programme, emphasizing that no child should be left unprotected. She said the sensitization exercise aligns with the broader vision of building a healthier and safer Aniocha North.

She expressed confidence that the campaign would strengthen awareness, unity, and long-term protection within the communities, adding that efforts made at the campaign would echo for generations.

At the event, goodwill messages were received from the vice chairman of the local government, representatives of WHO, UNICEF and faith based organizations.

The ceremony marked the beginning of grassroots advocacy ahead of the vaccination rollout across Aniocha North.
