The Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 celebrated this year’s National Children’s Day, with the Theme, “Stand up, Speak up: Building A Bullying-Free Generation”.
The event, held at the Council’s Secretariat premises in Issele-Uku was attended by over 2000 pupils and students from the various public and private primary and secondary schools in the area.
It was marked with match pasts, cultural dances and displays by representatives of the various primary and secondary schools
In his address, Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye, emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for children to grow and develop, free from bullying and other forms of abuse.
Hon Chinye, represented by the Supervisor for Environmental Health in the Local Government, Hon. Queen Ukamaka Ndubuokwu noted that the theme for this year’s celebration, “Stand up, Speak up: Building a Bullying Free Generation,” is a call to action for all stakeholders to work towards eliminating negative attitudes and discriminatory tendencies that inhibit the growth and development of children.
The Executive Chairman highlighted the Local Government’s efforts to improve the education and health sectors, including the renovation of classrooms, provision of toilet facilities and water boreholes in primary schools, and donation of quality exercise books to primary school pupils.
He also noted that efforts are being made to boost primary healthcare service delivery, including the renovation and equipment of Primary Health Care centers.
Hon. Chinye urged parents, guardians, and stakeholders to provide parental love and care for children, and to work collectively to checkmate activities of cultists in communities and schools even as he also called on children to adopt positive attitudes and be well-focused to become better citizens.
The celebration was attended by various stakeholders, including School heads, parents, members of the Clergy as well as representatives of the security agencies in the area.
The Executive Chairman solicited for their continued support and cooperation in achieving the yearnings and aspirations of Aniocha North Local Government.
The wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs Tina Chinye also led officials of the local government to hospitals and orphanages within the Council area where she celebrated and distributed gift items to the children in the hospitals and orphanages on behalf of the Local Government.
Earlier on Monday, May 26, 2025, over Ten Thousand Note Books were distributed by the Councillors on behalf of the Executive Chairman to all pupils and students in the various schools in all the wards in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The event marked a significant milestone in the Local Government’s efforts to promote the well-being and development of children, and to create a safe and supportive environment for them to thrive.
