The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has reaffirmed the position of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the leader of the party in the state.
This declaration was made following the Governor’s official defection to the APC on April 28, 2025.
In a statement signed by Ebata Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, State Publicity Secretary of the APC in Delta State, the party emphasized that it recognized no other individual as the leader of the party in Delta State apart from Governor Oborevwori.
Delta APC maintained that according to the party’s tradition and leadership structure, the sitting governor of a state under the APC platform becomes the leader of the party in that state, noting that the position was unequivocally affirmed by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima during the defection event, reflecting the official stance of the party’s national leadership.
The party therefore, warned against any dissenting opinions or actions that seek to challenge or undermine Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, stating that such tendencies will be firmly resisted and may attract severe sanctions from the party.
Delta APC also expressed its solidarity with Governor Oborevwori, pledging to work collectively towards ensuring the delivery of good governance and sustainable development in Delta State under his leadership and called on all members, stakeholders, and supporters to close ranks and unite behind the Governor as they strive to build on the gains of democracy and fulfill the promises of the M.O.R.E. agenda.
