APC Re-elects Sir Mathew Chinye as Aniocha North Chairman in Peaceful Consensus Congress

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has successfully conducted its Local Government Congress, returning Sir Mathew Chinye as Party Chairman alongside 27 other executive members to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The Congress, held in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the party secretariat in Issele-Uku, reaffirmed Chinye’s leadership through a consensus arrangement in line with party guidelines.

The exercise was conducted by party officials from Asaba, Mr. Pius Momah and Mr. Kingsley Ogwuwuwe, and observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Dame Beauty Ibiame, Electoral Officer for Aniocha North Local Government Area. Other INEC officials present were Mr. Ifeanyi Nwosu, Assistant Electoral Officer (Operations), and Mr. Harrison Toria. Security agencies and journalists also monitored the proceedings.

Among those returned were Mrs. Dorothy Udeh as Vice Chairman; Okeleke Andrew Akalaka as Secretary; Jude Nwani as Youth Leader; Christy Ojei as Assistant Youth Leader; Margaret Monye as Woman Leader; and Egbune Ndidi Favour as Assistant Woman Leader.

Others include Emmanuel Ikenwa as Organising Secretary; Nwabah Paul Heavy as Assistant Organising Secretary; Joy Ofunne as Welfare Secretary; Oluchukwu Kpamiose as Assistant Welfare Secretary; Oba Julius as Treasurer; Dada Onyeoka as Assistant Treasurer; Emmanuel Eboh Jnr as Financial Secretary; and Gary Nkemchor Njugo as Assistant Financial Secretary.

Also elected were Efrem Nkem Adimabua Owezie as Legal Adviser; Isaac Okoh as Assistant Legal Adviser; Chukwuka Okolo as Publicity Secretary; Emmanuel Ibe Eboha as Assistant Publicity Secretary; Agatha Ashibuogwu as Auditor; and Stanley Uwajeh as Assistant Auditor.

The Congress further returned Eboha Lucky as Special Leader (PWD); Judith Ojika as Assistant Special Leader (PWD); Kido Offor, Okolie Anyinye, Ngozi Mokunye, and Sunday Nwabor as Ex-Officio members.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Mr. Pius Momah, flanked by Mr. Kingsley Ogwuwuwe, declared that all the officials were duly elected by consensus in accordance with party guidelines. The Congress unanimously adopted them as the duly elected executives to pilot the affairs of the party in Aniocha North for the next four years.

In his acceptance speech, Sir Mathew Chinye, on behalf of the newly elected executives, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged to promote peace, unity, progress, and inclusiveness in the administration of the party in the local government area.

Fred Nwaojei; Prince Uzoma Idabor; Mr. Ikechukwu Nwaoko; Nnamdi Okwufulueze; Hon. Nneka Clara Dibia; Prince Mike Osonye; Hon. Charles Ochei; Hon. Raphael Uzoh; Chief Ben Anazia; Dr. Awunor; and Comrade Ziko Okwudi.

Speaking after the Congress, several leaders and members expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that the consensus approach and broad-based participation of critical stakeholders would strengthen internal democracy within the party.

They urged the newly elected chairman and his executive team to run an inclusive administration that carries all leaders and members along in advancing the APC’s fortunes in Aniocha North.
