President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has remained committed to his campaign promises to the North, according to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

Speaking at a two-day interactive programme organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Governor Sani assessed the President’s performance in office, highlighting his efforts in security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development.

“Since assuming office as President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu has doggedly kept faith with the North,” Governor Sani said. He noted that the President’s administration has made significant progress in addressing the security challenges in the North, particularly in Kaduna State.

Governor Sani commended the President’s leadership and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for their coordination and resolve in tackling insecurity.

“By God’s grace — and with the unwavering support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — our fortunes began to change. We prioritised peace, reinvigorated our security agencies, empowered local vigilance groups, and engaged communities with empathy, respect, and humility,” he said.

The Governor also highlighted the President’s efforts in education, including the introduction of a comprehensive student loan scheme, investment in infrastructure upgrades at federal institutions, and vocational training programmes for youth. “President Tinubu’s administration introduced a comprehensive student loan scheme, alleviating education costs and allowing students from modest backgrounds to pursue higher education,” he maintained.

In healthcare, Governor Sani mentioned the revitalisation of over 1,000 primary healthcare centres across Northern Nigeria, expansion of immunisation programmes, and increased access to maternal and child health services. “More than a thousand primary health care centres across Northern Nigeria have been revitalised. In Kaduna, we upgraded dozens, expanded immunisation programmes, and increased access to maternal and child health services,” he said.

The Governor further highlighted the President’s efforts in infrastructure development, including the rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano expressway, revival of the Kano-Maiduguri and Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto highways, and the construction of the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway. “These roads are more than asphalt; they are the arteries of unity, trade, and integration,” he said.

Governor Sani also addressed criticisms of the President’s administration, saying that some Northern leaders are misrepresenting facts and jeopardising unity. “Current data show that under President Tinubu, 52 percent of road-infrastructure legacy projects are in the North — compared to 48 percent in the South,” he said.

The Governor emphasised the importance of inclusive governance and citizen engagement in leadership. “Governance flourishes when it is inclusive. No president, no governor, no minister thrives alone,” he said, quoting Sir Ahmadu Bello’s legacy of leadership as service rooted in vision and unity founded in Justice
