Delta State Head of Service Calls for Application of New Skills After 21st Training Programme

The 21st edition of the Delta State Seven Weekend Senior Management Training Program has concluded in Asaba.

The Head of Service, Dr.(Mrs) Mininim Oseji, emphasized that the training aimed to equip officers with contemporary management concepts, knowledge and skills to deliver top-quality service efficiently and effectively

Dr. Oseji urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to drive positive change in their Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, benefiting the civil service and Delta State citizens .

She thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting staff development and appreciated the collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and the State Civil Service Commission.

The Head of Service disclosed that arrangements have been made for Officers who serve as monitors to visit MDAs in order to access the impact of the training on workers, this, she said would serve as a framework for monitoring the impact of the Seven Weekend training program.

ASCON’s Director-General, Dr. Funke Adepoju, commended participants for their commitment and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained to enhance service delivery.

She praised Governor Oborevwori and Dr. Oseji for their commitment to human capital development and leadership in Delta State .

The Course Participants, led by the Governor – General of the Course, Engineer Ikechukwu Collins who also served as Chairman of the Communique drafting Committee, presented their Communique in which they lauded the Governor and the Head of Service for their steadfast commitment to Sustaining this vital training program.

They however identified key areas that required refinement to enhance the overall impact and effectiveness of future editions to include ;

Reviewing the training modules further with a view to reducing the models.

Spreading the examination component in such a way that participants have enough time to study well for it.

Recommending virtual learning where online examination can be conducted.

Mrs Omeru Akwara Anne, a Chief Scientific Officer of the Ministry of Health received a Cash Prize of #10,000 from the Head of Service in recognition of her punctuality, having arrived at the venue of the closing ceremony as early as 7:45 am.

This gesture underscores the HOS unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of timelines and Professionalism within the Public Service.

A total of 200 Participants drawn from various Ministries took part in the 2025 edition, which was formally brought to a close on Friday December 12.
