Delta State Troops Neutralize Three Kidnappers in Fierce Gun Battle In Otulu

A dramatic turn of events unfolded in Otulu, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, as troops of the 63 Brigade, Asaba, successfully neutralized three armed kidnappers in a fierce gun battle on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

According to a statement by Harrison Gwamnishu, Human Rights & Security Consultant, in his verified Facebook Page, the kidnappers had on Friday, August 15, 2025, abducted a driver, Mr. Igiri Samuel, staff of Seth Integrated Farms, and Miss Mercy Iteshi behind the Oshimili North Local Government Headquarters, Akwu-Akwu Igbo, Delta State.

According to Gwamnishu, the management of Seth Integrated Farms provided crucial intelligence to the security agencies on August 17, 2025, which led to the mobilization of troops to track and trail the kidnappers from Atuma-Iga down to Otulu.

The suspects were engaged in a fierce gun battle, resulting in their neutralization.

Recovered items from the kidnappers include ₦2,400,000 cash, 52 live rounds of ammunition, one AK-47 rifle, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Unfortunately, the female victim, Miss Mercy Iteshi, and a military personnel sustained injuries during the operation and are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital, the Human Rights & Security Consultant revealed

Gwamnishu extended appreciation to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his continued support and commitment to making Delta State safer.

He also commended the gallant officers of the 63 Brigade, Asaba, the Otulu Vigilante Group, and the Safe City Volunteer Foundation for their unwavering backup and collaboration with security agencies.

The successful operation is an attestation of the effectiveness of community-driven security initiatives and the commitment of security agencies to protecting the lives and property of citizens in Delta State.
