The Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has commended the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) for organizing the Diplomatic/Security International Conference 2025.
The conference, themed “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges,” aims to proffer solutions to security and economic development issues.
According to Rt. Hon. Elumelu, “The theme of the Conference is apt given the urgent need to strengthen collaborations on security and economy.”
He noted that Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy, which emphasizes democracy, development, demography, and diaspora, underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to returning Nigeria to its leading role in Africa and among nations.
The renowned Politician and Federal Lawmaker emphasized the need for operational synergy among governments, agencies, the media, and the diplomatic community to achieve the 4Ds’ objectives.
He stated, “Against this backdrop is the compelling demand for operational synergy among governments, relevant national and transnational agencies, the media and the diplomatic community towards the spirit, letters and intendment of the 4Ds.
“This is especially in the areas of intelligence and knowledge sharing, financial aids and equipment support in deepening democratic practice, tackling national and trans-border criminal activities, checking illicit financial flows, terrorism, smuggling, trafficking in arms and drugs, and ensuring effective public enlightenment for national safety, stability and development.”
He commended the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) for demonstrating patriotism and dedication to nation-building and urged the authorities to support the body in its efforts to combat disinformation and promote accurate information dissemination.
“I encourage DICAN to keep the flag flying, especially in battling disinformation through effective and timely dissemination of accurate information,” he said.
The conference aims to stimulate robust discourses that will shape actions for national and global stability.
