The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the sudden passing of Ogbuefi Nnamdi Mohanye, a prominent political leader and businessman from Idumuje-Unor in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a condolence message on Monday, December 15, 2025, Elumelu said the late Mohanye who died on Saturday, December 13, 2025, after a brief illness, was a renowned personality whose life was dedicated to service, progress and the upliftment of his people.
He noted that the deceased made immense contributions to the political and economic development of Aniocha North Local Government Area, playing key roles in strengthening the grassroots political system and providing guidance and stability during critical moments in the area’s political history.
Elumelu also highlighted Mohanye’s philanthropic disposition, describing him as a rare giver who found joy in impacting lives. According to him, the late political and community leader consistently supported individuals, families and community initiatives, touching many lives.
“The political class in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State and beyond has indeed lost a great political giant. Personally, I have lost a dependable adviser, a voice of wisdom and a trusted ally whose counsel was always frank, patriotic and people-oriented.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his children, the entire Mohanye family, the Obi of Idumuje-Unor, His Royal Majesty Agbogidi Obi Charles Anyasi III, the good people of Idumuje-Unor, and the entire people of Aniocha North Local Government Area. This loss is deeply felt by all who knew him and benefited from his kindness, courage and commitment to community service.
“Though he will be greatly missed, we take consolation in the Lord God Almighty, who gives and takes according to His perfect will. I pray that God grants strength, comfort and divine guidance to his children and family in this moment of grief. May God also grant his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, eternal rest in perfect peace.
“May his legacy of service, generosity and leadership continue to inspire us all,” Elumelu prayed.
