Faith-Based Coalition Backs Elumelu for 2027 Reps Race in Aniocha/Oshimili

The Armour Bearers Intercessory Network, an interdenominational coalition of churches across Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, has endorsed the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, ahead of the 2027 election into the Federal House of Representatives.

The endorsement was announced on Sunday, December 21, 2025, during a well-attended prayer and interactive session held at Norish Hotel, Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The faith-based group said its decision was informed by Elumelu’s deep grassroots connection, wealth of legislative experience and bold approach to addressing the socio-political challenges confronting the constituency. The network described him as “divinely chosen” to lead Aniocha/Oshimili towards sustainable development and prosperity.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the group, Bishop Vincent Okpuno urged Elumelu to remain steadfast, prayerful and responsive to the call to serve his people. He noted that the endorsement was rooted in the network’s moral and spiritual responsibility to promote unity, peace and holistic development within the constituency. The group also offered prayers for divine guidance, protection and wisdom for the renowned lawmaker as he prepares for the political journey ahead.

The Armour Bearers Intercessory Network highlighted Elumelu’s track record in office, citing the execution of key constituency projects, including the construction of ICT centres, community town halls and palaces for traditional rulers. It also acknowledged the installation of solar-powered street lights in nearly all communities across Aniocha/Oshimili.

Other initiatives credited to Elumelu include youth and women empowerment programmes, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship support, agricultural development projects aimed at strengthening the agribusiness value chain, as well as investments in sustainable infrastructure such as road expansion and improved transportation networks to stimulate economic growth.

The endorsement adds to a growing list of support for Elumelu’s anticipated return to the Green Chambers. In September, Udo Anioma, a diaspora organisation led by Dr. Afam Mordi, endorsed him, describing Elumelu as a compassionate and exceptional political leader committed to delivering meaningful dividends of democracy to his constituents.

Similarly, in November, the Think Tank Committee, a research and policy group established by Hon. Ngozi Okolie, withdrawn its support from its principal and declared for Elumelu, providing what it described as compelling reasons why Aniocha/Oshimili would flourish with Elumelu’s return to the National Assembly.

Members of the former Think Tank group later tendered a public apology to the body of Presidents-General of Community Development Unions in the constituency, admitting they had been misled and exploited, as none of the priority projects they submitted to their representative had been captured in the federal budget.

With endorsements spanning faith-based organisations, diaspora groups and policy think tanks, political observers say momentum continues to build around Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu’s 2027 ambition.
