Former Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu Mourns Chief Dan Okenyi

The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has expressed deep grief over the passing of Chief Dan Okenyi.

While attending the Afreximbank Summit in Grenada, Caribbean, Elumelu extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and the Government and people of Delta State.

Elumelu, in a statement on Friday, described Chief Okenyi as a distinguished leader who served as the first Administrator of Aniocha North Local Government after its creation in August 1992.

He also extolled Okenyi as a great administrator who played a very pivotal role in the development of the Delta State legislature.

“Chief Okenyi held various positions in the Delta State Government, including the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Commissioner, and member of the State Executive Council. His service to the State Government was marked by numerous people-oriented projects, particularly in his community of Ukwu-Nzu, where he attracted several life-enhancing developmental projects to the admiration of all” Elumelu said.

The former Minority Leader noted that Chief Okenyi was an amazing supporter and great adviser who shared his vision for the development of Aniocha/Oshimili and the Anioma project.

“He was renowned for his commitment to the development of the legislature in Delta State and attracting people-oriented projects to his community, Ukwu-Nzu in Aniocha North Local Government Area,” Elumelu states.

He lamented that Chief Okenyi’s death has created a void in the community but added that his legacies will continue to inspire many, especially the younger generation of leaders.

Elumelu prayed for the repose of Chief Okenyi’s soul and comfort for his family at this trying time.
