The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), in collaboration with the United States, have carried out precision strike operations against identified foreign Islamic State (ISIS)-linked fighters operating in parts of North West Nigeria.

The coordinated operation, which received approval from the appropriate Federal Government authorities, was executed as part of sustained efforts to eliminate terrorist networks and criminal elements threatening national security.

According to a statement issued on Friday, December 26, 2025 by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the strikes were based on credible intelligence and followed careful operational planning aimed at degrading the operational capacity of the targeted extremists while minimizing collateral damage.

He noted that the action underscores the Federal Government’s resolve, in partnership with strategic allies, to confront transnational terrorism and prevent foreign fighters from establishing or expanding their presence within Nigeria’s borders.

“The operation reflects our collective commitment to safeguarding the nation and ensuring that Nigeria does not become a haven for international terror groups,” the statement said.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, while sustaining joint and inter-agency operations to restore lasting peace and security across the country.

The military also assured Nigerians of continued vigilance and professionalism in tackling emerging security threats nationwide.
