President Bola Tinubu has announced changes in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs in a bid to bolster national security.
General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
Other changes include the appointment of Major-General W. Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as the new Chief of Naval Staff.
Chief of Defence Intelligence Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his position.
In a statement on Friday October 24, 2025 by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their service and charged the new appointees to build on the professionalism and vigilance of the Armed Forces.
The appointments take immediate effect.
