Wike Refuses to Disclose Details of Peace Deal with Fubara

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declined to reveal details of the recent peace agreement between him and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking on Thursday at a media chat at his Abuja residence, Wike said the most important thing is that peace has returned to Rivers State.

“I will allow you to speculate, it’s not my business. All I know is that peace has come,” Wike stated. “What is important is that peace has returned, whatever thing anybody says is not my business.”

Wike noted that some individuals had exploited the crisis in Rivers State for personal gain and are now unhappy about the reconciliation.

He hinted that these individuals had been using the crisis to enrich themselves.

The peace deal follows a meeting hosted by President Tinubu last month, where Wike, Fubara, and suspended lawmakers came together to resolve their differences.

The President had suspended Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State Assembly in March 2025, after a prolonged political impasse in the state.

The crisis began after a fallout between Wike and Fubara over control of state structures, leading to an attempted impeachment by lawmakers loyal to Wike.

Following the suspension, President Tinubu appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (rtd) as the sole administrator of the state.
