Wike Urges Tinubu to Release NDDC Forensic Audit Report, Makes Claims About Amaechi’s Wife

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to release the report of the forensic audit conducted on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike claimed the report was withheld to protect those who might be implicated in fraud.

Wike also made allegations about the wife of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, stating she benefited from government contracts during her husband’s tenure. However, he did not provide evidence to support his claims.

Wike specifically alleged that Amaechi’s wife received a monthly contract to train women in the Niger Delta.

The forensic audit, initiated in 2021, investigated NDDC’s financial transactions and project implementations from 2001 to 2019.

Wike urged President Tinubu to release the report, saying, “Let President Bola Ahmed Tinubu do us a favor and release the report of the forensic audit of the NDDC. Mr. President should help Nigerians.”

Wike’s comments come after Amaechi described his wife as “almost an industrialist.”

The FCT Minister disputed this claim, alleging Amaechi’s corruption and claiming he would resign as FCT minister if his accusations were not contained in the NDDC forensic report.

The minister also questioned Amaechi’s academic credentials, stating he failed to graduate from Rivers State University.

Amaechi’s wife is not the first to be accused of benefiting from NDDC contracts, as controversy surrounding the probe has led to allegations of corruption among lawmakers and NDDC officials.
