2023 DTHA: Odinigwe Wins Hearts Of Aniocha North PDP Leaders, Delegates, As He Declares Intention to Contest

A Frontline aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie has formally declared his intention to contest the Aniocha North state Constituency seat, in the Delta State House of Assembly, under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general election.

Hon. Odigie made his aspiration known on Good Friday, April 15, when he led members of his campaign organization, on a consultative visit to the Executive members, delegates and critical stakeholders of the PDP in Aniocha North, at the Party’s Secretariat, Issele-Uku.

He was accompanied on the visit by an unprecedented crowd of joyous Aniocha North youths and women and was accorded a rousing reception by the leaders of the party, who displayed uncommon love and preference for him.

Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Chief Barr. Josephine Ada Kachikwu and Deacon Chuks Nwaebuni, three leading lights of the party in the State, led other leaders and elders of the party in Aniocha North to the event that was presided over by the Chairman of the party in the area, Hon. Dr. Charles Ochei.

In his declaration, Hon. Odinigwe Odigie who was in his best element, expressed his appreciation to the gathering and said that he was overwhelmed and humbled by their show of love.

He said that it became expedient for him to consult with them and formally inform them of his intention to make himself available to contest for the Aniocha North state Constituency seat in the State House of Assembly come 2023, under the Peoples Democratic Party.

The vibrant and youthful politician, solicited for support and cooperation of the stakeholders for his aspiration and said that he has all it takes to represent the people of the Constituency in the House of Assembly having been tutored by all of them for a period of twenty-three years.

“I have served as an elected councillor where I displayed uncommon service to the people of my ward in Obomkpa and Aniocha North generally, between 2008 and 2011 during the reign of Hon. Jaunty Okwudi, as the Executive Chairman.

“In 2015, I was found worthy by His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of our dear State, to be appointed Senior Special Assistant on ICT, a sensitive position with a portfolio that oversees the payment of salaries for workers of the Delta State Government.

“I did it for four good years and in 2019 His Excellency the Governor found me worthy again and promoted me by appointing me Executive Assistant on ICT, the position I held until I resigned in March this year, as a result of my burning desire to represent my people in the State House of Assembly, under our great party, PDP.

“I have never been found wanting in my service to this local Government area and the State. I have not come to read my manifestos because this is not manifestos day, but I have come to plead with you to support and vote for me as you go into our party primary election, in May.

“I have the capacity, I have the vibrancy and I know you all know that i am capable of adding value and changing a whole lot of things to the benefit of the people of Aniocha North, I assure you that I will work with our Reps in the National Assembly to bring about meaningful transformation of Aniocha North, if given the opportunity to represent you in the State House of Assembly,” Hon Odinigwe articulated to the admiration of the stakeholders.

While introducing him, to the eminent gathering, a renowned grassroots politician in the area and the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Project Monitoring, Hon. Charles Ogedi, described Hon. Odinigwe Odigie as a vibrant young man who has added great value to the Local Government area and the State as a whole.

He disclosed that as a well known party man in the area, with great love for the party, Hon Odinigwe has marshaled out plans towards instituting an endowment fund to take care of the urgent need of party faithful, especially Executive members in the wards and Local Government Area, saying that better days are ahead for the party in Aniocha North.

“Hon. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie, is the only aspirant amongst the lot, that has plans for the party whereby he has marshaled out a sustainable plan for the executives at the local Government area and at the ward levels.

“As a pilot scheme, he is going to introduce what we have called an endowment to cater for members of the executive. We have had cases where party members are stranded that they cannot pay house rent, they cannot pay hospital bills, some cannot pay school fees for their children and there is no fund to resort to, but by the grace of God, better days are ahead.

“Odinigwe has articulated a scheme where a lump sum of money will be dedicated as an endowment to take care of the needs of party faithful, particularly the executives and that pilot scheme will begin with the executive committee members.

“In that scheme when the members of EXCO or those that will be affected in the first phase, have need for fund at near zero percent interest, having met all the processes and their problem will be solved at that particular time and that is how it will be for every other member of the executive.

“This is a welcome departure from the situation where every four years, they just come when there are party activities, after that, that is the end. Nobody will remember them again till after four years. But things are about to change and better days are ahead,” Hon. Ogedi affirmed.

Responding on behalf of the stakeholders, the Chairman of the party in the area, Hon. Dr. Charles Ochei who was visibly elated, commended Hon Odinigwe Odigie for finding it expedient to aspire for the Constituency seat in the House of Assembly, saying that he has distinguished himself as an accomplished young man who has demonstrated exceptional selfless service for the people of Aniocha North and Delta State.

While praying God to grant Odinigwe success in the May primary election of the PDP, Dr Ochei eulogised Chief Nkem Okwuofu, the aspirant’s Mother and said that God is about to reward her through the son, for her avid commitments to the development of the party in the local Government Area, State and Nigeria in general.
