The Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. High Chief Ezenyili Kelvin Obi, PhD, popularly known as EKO, has called on youths across the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency to rally behind the candidature of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, OON, in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
EKO made the call when he received a group of youths who had been urging him to contest for the House of Representatives seat, appreciating them for the confidence, love and trust they had continued to demonstrate in his leadership.
While acknowledging their enthusiasm and political support, the Oshimili South Council Chairman explained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had already entrusted its ticket for the House of Representatives with Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu.
He therefore urged the youths to respect the party’s decision and unite behind Elumelu for the success of the party at the polls.
EKO described Elumelu as a father figure to him, stressing that his decision to support the former House of Representatives Minority Leader was borne out of loyalty to the party and the deep personal respect he has for him.
According to him, having secured the party’s ticket, Elumelu deserves the collective support of all APC members and supporters across the constituency, irrespective of their previous preferences or political affiliations within the party.
He consequently appealed to his supporters and the youths who had mobilised around his proposed House of Representatives ambition to redirect their political energy towards the collective victory of the APC, beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the Senatorial candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu as the House of Representatives candidate, and the party’s House of Assembly candidates in their respective local government areas.
EKO expressed profound appreciation to the youths for their persistent calls on him to contest the House of Representatives election, assuring them that he would never take their confidence, love and trust for granted.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for EKO to interact directly with the youths and acknowledge their commitment to his leadership. At the gathering, he unveiled the “EKO Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda”, urging his supporters to transform their enthusiasm into a broader mobilisation for the success of the APC and its candidates.
Responding to EKO’s appeal, some of the youths acknowledged that they had initially been reluctant to support Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu’s candidature. They, however, declared that their respect and loyalty to EKO had influenced their decision to support Elumelu and work for his emergence in 2027.
EKO, while appreciating the youths for their commitment, emphasised that political loyalty must be anchored on unity, discipline and respect for the decisions of the party. He reaffirmed his support for Elumelu, stressing that his position reflected both his loyalty to the APC and his regard for Elumelu as a respected father figure.
