Delta Investment Summit: Elumelu Urges Global Investors to Tap Vast Opportunities in Delta

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives, Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has described the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit as a bold and strategic initiative designed to further strengthen the repositioning of the state as one of Africa’s most attractive destinations for sustainable investments.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, during the second day of the summit held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, Elumelu said the conference, themed “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials,” reflected the determination of the Delta State Government to unlock the state’s enormous economic assets through deliberate engagement with local and international investors.

According to him, Delta State possesses abundant natural and human resources that remain largely untapped, noting that the summit has provided a veritable platform for showcasing the state’s comparative advantages across critical sectors of the economy.

He identified agriculture, oil and gas, the blue economy, the digital economy, renewable and conventional energy, as well as solid minerals including coal, kaolin, clay and limestone, as areas offering significant opportunities for profitable investments in industrialization while creating employment and expanding the state’s internally generated revenue.

Elumelu observed that with the right partnerships and enabling policies, Delta State has the capacity to emerge as a major economic hub not only in Nigeria but across the West African sub-region.

The former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives also acknowledged the establishment of the 100 million dollar risk investment initiative by the Delta State Government, describing it as a commendable step towards stimulating private sector participation and encouraging innovation.

He however, stressed that for such an intervention to deliver maximum value, greater emphasis should equally be placed on strengthening critical infrastructure that supports business growth.

Elumelu commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for providing purposeful leadership through the organisation of the summit, noting that the initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to economic diversification, wealth creation and inclusive development.

He said the governor’s vision of opening Delta State to greater investment opportunities would accelerate industrial growth and improve the standard of living of the people if consistently pursued.

The APC chieftain also congratulated the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee of the summit, Dr. Kingsley Emu, and members of the committee for what he described as a professionally coordinated event that successfully projected Delta State’s economic potential before the global investment community.

Drawing from his experience as Chairman of the Main Planning Committee of the Taraba State International Investment Summit, Elumelu remarked that the planning, coordination and quality of engagements witnessed throughout the Delta summit reflected thorough preparation and a clear development agenda.

He further appealed to investors across Nigeria and the international business community to take advantage of the enormous opportunities available in Delta State, assuring them that the state remains peaceful, secure and conducive for long-term investments.

“Delta State is open for business. It offers enormous opportunities across diverse sectors, a strategic location, abundant natural resources and a government that has demonstrated its readiness to partner with genuine investors. I encourage investors from around the world to explore the limitless possibilities that abound here because Delta is safe, welcoming and positioned for economic expansion,” Elumelu said.
