The Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye, has unveiled a brand-new Toyota Corolla car as the star prize in a raffle draw designed to reward the commitment, dedication and support of workers in the council and public primary schools across the local government area.
Chinye unveiled the vehicle on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, during an interactive meeting with members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) at the Comrade Collins Ogwugwua NULGE Event Centre, located within the premises of the Local Government Council Secretariat, Issele-Uku.
The meeting was attended by a large number of council workers, teachers and non-teaching staff of public primary schools in Aniocha North.
The council chairman was accompanied by his Vice Chairman, Hon. Nneka Clara Dibie, and other members of the Local Government Executive Council.
Addressing the workers, Chinye said the meeting was primarily convened to appreciate them for the support, cooperation and dedication they had extended to his administration over the past two years.
He noted that the commitment of the workforce had contributed significantly to the achievements recorded by his administration since assuming office, stressing that the role of council workers remained indispensable to effective grassroots governance.
According to him, his appreciation for workers and their contributions to local government administration predated his emergence as council chairman, recalling that he had contributed the initial seed towards the construction of the NULGE event centre even before he became chairman.
Chinye explained that, through what he described as divine intervention, he was able to facilitate the completion and furnishing of the facility, which has now been renamed the Comrade Collins Ogwugwua NULGE Event Centre.
The chairman also recalled his support for the Aniocha North NULGE during the last NULGE Day celebration in Delta State, where the union emerged winner of the star prize in a raffle draw.
He said the achievement inspired him to promise that a similar initiative would be introduced to accommodate not only council workers but also teachers and non-teaching staff in public primary schools within Aniocha North.
Chinye said the welfare of workers had remained a major priority of his administration in the past two years, adding that the raffle draw was part of measures to appreciate their sacrifices and contributions to the development of the local government.
He disclosed that the unveiling of the Toyota Corolla marked one of the activities lined up to commemorate the second anniversary of his administration, noting that the anniversary was officially marked on July 15 with the commissioning of projects in the health sector.
The chairman, however, said the main thanksgiving and celebration of the administration’s two years in office would take place in September, with the specific date to be announced later.
While unveiling the raffle ticket, Chinye directed the immediate commencement of ticket sales to council workers, teachers and non-teaching staff in public primary schools in Aniocha North.
He disclosed that the Toyota Corolla would go to the first winner, while the second winner would receive a brand-new ladies’ motorcycle. The third prize, he said, would be a deep freezer, while the fourth winner would receive a generator set.
The council boss urged the workers to sustain their commitment and dedication to the administration, while also calling for continued cooperation with the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He expressed optimism that greater opportunities and renewed hope would continue to reach all segments of the society in Aniocha North.
Responding on behalf of the workers, the Chairman of NULGE and NUT in the area, Comrades Collins Ogwugwua and Aniamaka Joy Uzor, respectively, commended Chinye for what they described as his commitment to workers’ welfare and his worker-friendly policies.
They described him as one of the best-performing and most worker-friendly local government chairmen in Delta State, noting that his administration had demonstrated genuine concern for the workforce.
The union leaders also appreciated Chinye for joining other local government chairmen in supporting the state government’s initiative to remove the ceiling on the promotion of graduate teachers, thereby creating opportunities for qualified teachers to rise to Grade Level 17 in the civil service.
They assured the chairman of the continued commitment, dedication and support of workers to his administration.
Also speaking, the Director of Nursing Services in Aniocha North Local Government, Mrs. Mercy Enunwa, commended Chinye for the rehabilitation, upgrading and transformation of primary healthcare centres across the local government area.
Enunwa said the healthcare facilities had witnessed significant infrastructural improvements and had also been equipped with modern medical equipment and supplied with essential drugs.
She assured the chairman that nurses and other health workers would continue to support his administration, describing his leadership style as inclusive and people-oriented.
The high point of the meeting was the formal unveiling of the brand-new Toyota Corolla before the leadership of the workers’ unions, marking the commencement of the raffle initiative aimed at rewarding workers for their service and dedication to Aniocha North Local Government.
