Tinubu Begins Three-Week Annual Vacation, Heads to Europe Ahead of 2027 Campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, Sunday, August 30, 2026, depart Abuja for Europe to commence a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom.

The statement described the trip as a vacation and working visit, indicating that President Tinubu is expected to combine his period of leave with engagements before returning to Nigeria.

The President is expected back in the country at the end of the three-week break, after which he will join what promises to be an intensive political campaign ahead of the January 2027 election.

The development comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and their candidates intensifying consultations, mobilisation and campaign preparations across the country.

President Tinubu, who is seeking to consolidate his administration’s programmes and policies, is expected to resume his official and political engagements upon his return.
