The Director-General of the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, has urged party candidates to prioritise issue-based campaigns, highlighting the party’s achievements, ongoing projects and future development plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Manager gave the charge while addressing journalists shortly after a meeting of the Central Campaign Council, alongside its Chairman, Media and Publicity, Mr Charles Aniagwu, and other members, including Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and Elder Godsday Orubebe.
He called on candidates, party leaders and supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and in strict compliance with the law, stressing that the electioneering period should be an opportunity for constructive engagement rather than confrontation.
According to him, the APC would use its campaign platform, particularly the formal flag-off scheduled for November 5 in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, to communicate its achievements, ongoing programmes and plans for the future to the electorate.
“Whatever campaigns the candidates are doing must be issue-based. I am sure all of you will listen to us on what we have done, what we are doing and what we will do next once we are re-elected,” he said.
The Campaign Council Director-General stressed that the party had no intention of engaging in activities capable of disrupting the peace, urging all stakeholders to remain law-abiding throughout the campaign period.
“We are not looking for trouble from anybody, and we only hope and pray that people will also not look for trouble from us,” he added.
He described electioneering as a democratic exercise that should be characterised by singing, dancing and, more importantly, presenting the truth to the electorate, rather than resorting to violence or physical confrontations.
Manager explained that the meeting was the first gathering of the Central Campaign Council’s leadership since its inauguration, noting that the council had previously held engagements with other components of the campaign structure, including local government management committees and various support groups.
He said the meeting was convened to brief members on preparations, assess progress and agree on the next steps, particularly towards the forthcoming campaign flag-off in Oleh.
The former senator also disclosed that the Isoko Nation would host Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on November 3, two days before the formal commencement of the APC campaign in the state.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to effectively coordinating campaign activities in support of all APC candidates contesting the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State House of Assembly elections in 2027.
