The Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State, Hon. Kevin Okwechime has inaugurated Mr. Kennedy Okoh as the new Secretary to the Local Government.
Mr. Kennedy Okoh was inaugurated in a brief, but colourful ceremony on Wednesday June 22 in the Chairman’s Office at Issele-Uku, the headquarters of the Local Government Area.
His inauguration was sequel to the rectification of his appointment by the State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by the Vice-Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Princess Tina Amuamuziam, Supervisors, Head of Personnel Management of the Council, HPM, Dr. Mrs. Patricia Uche Dede, Departmental Heads and the Chairman of NULGE in the Council, Comrade Collins Ogwugwa.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kevin Okwechime congratulated the newly inaugurated Secretary to the Local Government and described him as a thorough breed administrator and politician who knows what it means to render qualitative service to the people.
The council boss noted that the office of the Secretary to the Local Government remains the power house for the administration and called on the SLG to bring his experience to bear in the performance of his duties, saying that he has a lot to do in helping in the translation of his administration’s people oriented vision into action for the benefit of the people of Aniocha North local Government area.
While calling on the critical officers of the council to support and cooperate with the new Secretary, Okwechime called on him to open up to the officers with a view to learning from them, stressing that he must work towards bridging the gap between the civil class and the political class.
“We must work as one indivisible family towards meeting the needs and aspirations of our people in Aniocha North. Those of us at the Executive arm, the Legislative Arm and the Management and Staff must work in synergy and the SLG has a great role to play in this regard,” the Council Boss emphasized.
Responding, the new Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Kennedy Okoh appreciated the Chairman for finding him worthy to be appointed and pledged to serve and be loyal to the government and people of Aniocha North.
Okoh paid glowing tributes to the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and said that he remains a leader with great passion for the people, even as he promised to help the Executive Chairman of the Local Government in advancing the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Aniocha North as he render qualitative service to the people through his office as the SLG of the Local Government.
Also at the event was the Chairman of PDP, ward 1 Onicha-Uku, Chief Okonji Elumelu and some of the Executive members of the party in the ward.
High point was the swearing in of the SLG by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Kevin Okwechime and the administration of the necessary oaths of office.
