Aniocha North Delivers Unanimous Votes for Oborevwori in APC Governorship Primary, as Elumelu Says Governor Remains People’s Mandate Beyond 2027

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday unanimously affirmed Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general election following a peaceful direct primary election conducted across the 10 wards in the council area.

Party faithful trooped out in large numbers in the various wards, openly queueing behind Governor Oborevwori during the exercise which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside security agencies deployed to ensure a hitch-free process.

Announcing the outcome of the primary election, the State Collation Officer for Aniocha North Local Government Area described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and well attended, noting that members unanimously cast their votes for Governor Oborevwori.

The Collation Officer thereafter declared Governor Oborevwori the undisputed winner of the APC governorship primary in Aniocha North and returned him as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Speaking with journalists shortly after voting at Ward One, Obior/Onicha-Uku, the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, expressed delight over what he described as an overwhelming show of support for the Governor across the local government area.

“I am very impressed with the exercise. I am very happy that my people have listened to our preaching because they have seen. If you look at this Obior-Ubulu-Uku Road, you will see that the road is being done and no other person is doing it other than the Governor,” Elumelu said.

He noted that the visible infrastructural development and appointments extended to Aniocha North by the Oborevwori administration accounted for the massive support witnessed during the primary election.

“If you go across the Local Government Area, you can see transformation taking place in Aniocha North and that has informed what you have seen this morning across the local government where everybody is queueing to say to Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori to come back,” he stated.

Elumelu, who recently emerged as the APC candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, further assured the Governor of overwhelming electoral support from Ward One and the entire Aniocha North Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We want to tell our Governor not to bother about Ward One. Your Excellency should not send anything to Ward One. We have the capacity to deliver him in the forthcoming general election,” he declared.

Elumelu highlighted several projects executed by the Oborevwori administration in the area, including the ongoing Obior-Ubulu-Uku Road project, the Idumuje-Ugboko Road supported by the NDDC, the access road linking the NYSC Orientation Camp junction through Onicha-Uku and Ugbodu to Ohadua in Edo State, as well as the ongoing Issele-Uku township road project.

According to him, the completion of the Issele-Asagba/Otulu Road, which he said had long been neglected, further demonstrated the Governor’s commitment to the development of Aniocha North.

“So we have every reason as people of Aniocha North Local Government Area to stand by His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

“This is not just voting, this is a statement that Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is our mandate up till 2031,” Elumelu added.

He also commended the peaceful conduct of party members during the exercise, attributing it to the confidence and goodwill Governor Oborevwori enjoys among the people.

“The exercise is very peaceful as you can see in Aniocha North Local Government Area. It is peaceful because they believe in the Governor and they have seen what he is doing. Everybody is happy with him. Nobody is angry whatsoever. The market women are supported, the youth are empowered. I can go on and on to talk about Sheriff; he is a wonderful Governor,” he said.
