Covid -19: Delta Assembly Speaker hails members on palliatives, urges them to observe health safety protocol

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.  Sheriff Oborevwori has  commended  members of the House for their unflinching support for the state governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on his stay at home directive among others to contain the spread of Covid19.

He  also commended  members for being their brother’s keeper by donating palliatives to their various constituencies to complement the supplies from the Delta State Food Bank to cushion the effects of the lockdown on the less privilege and vulnerable persons.

Rt Hon Oborevwori who spoke on Wednesday  after meeting with members expressed  gratitude to them  saying that they have made him proud by rising to the occasion, noting that  though the battle against Covid-19 is not over yet, they should  not rest on our oars.

In a related development, the Speaker has enjoined members to comply with health safety protocol as the House resumes plenary Thursday.

According to him, the following guidelines which include but not limited to the listed protocol will be observed during plenary:

1 Physical and social distancing to safeguard the health and safety of members and staff;

2 Members, including the Leadership are to maintain social distancing

3 Only two clerks-at-table are to sit at a time;

4 Clerk and Deputy Clerk will also observe social distancing;

5 members and staff must wear their face mask in the Chamber and within the premises and only accredited journalists will be allowed access to the gallery.
