Covid-19 Lockdown: Dame Okowa Puts Smile on the Faces of Deltans As She Distributes Food items to Council Areas

The Wife of the Delta State Governor Dame Edith Okowa through her pet project 05 initiative has distributed twenty five thousand bags of ten kilograms of rice and seventy five bags of one hundred kilograms of beans to the twenty five local government areas of the state.

The food items accompanied with some amount of money was distributed to the various councils through the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and other fellowships.

Another ten bags of beans and thirty bags of rice were also distributed to residents of the Mile 5 Asaba. The donation was also extended to some orphanages in the state.

The distribution of the food items into buses to the various councils was supervised by Dame Okowa and the Director General 05 initiative Mrs Kevwe Agas.

Speaking on the essence of the donations, Mrs Agas said it was part of measures to cushion the effect of the lockdown occasioned by Covid 19 on some indigent and vulnerable residents of the state.

The DG said the choice of churches, orphanages and other disadvantaged persons was to afford beneficiaries opportunity to have a new lease of life in this period of stay at home.

Some of the representatives of CAN and the vulnerable groups that collected the food items said Dame Okowa has been a strong pillar to the disadvantaged members of the society saying that the 05 initiative has always fulfilled its mandate of feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, providing shelter for the homeless and clothing to the naked.

They said the governor’s wife has used her position to also give sight to the blind and hope to the downtrodden and promised to distribute the food items to the target groups.
