Delta 8th Assembly: Guwor Expresses Satisfaction At Lawmakers Retreat

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has expressed satisfaction on the quality of lectures at the two day retreat for members of the 8th Assembly.

Speaking on the second day of the programme holding at Ikot-Akpene, Akwa-Ibom state, Rt. Hon. Guwor said the capacity building workshop has been very interesting and eventful.

According to him, every member, including the 20 first timers and 9 retuning lawmakers, would return to the state with new or added knowledge on the nitty gritty of lawmaking.

The Speaker expressed delight on behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly and by extension the Delta State government, to the non governmental organization that put together the training programme for Members of the House.

Rt. Hon Guwor said the 8th Delta Assembly promises to be a vibrant House, saying that much is expected from the legislature as it is the fulcrum of democratic governance.

He assured that his leadership will be all inclusive and open to ideas that would further promote good governance in the state as Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration was set to deliver more dividends of democracy in the state.

Some of the the members who spoke including, Hon Emmanuel Sinebe, Patani, Emeka Nwaobi, Aniocha North, Festus Utuama, Ughelli South, Ferguson Onwo, Isoko South, Fred Martins, Warri North, Blessing Achoja, Ethiope West and Spencer Ohwofa, Ughelli North Two, said the workshop was very impactful

They commended the Speaker and the organizers for putting the training together, stressing that capacity building is key in keeping abreast with global development in legislative business.

While the returning members said there were so much added knowledge gain from the workshop, the first timers acknowledged the helping hands being received from their senior colleagues.

Resource persons at the workshop were drawn from within and outside the country.

A comprehensive evaluation of all the topics and issues discussed is expected at the end of the programmme.
