Delta Governor, Oborevwori Dissolves Boards Of Commissions, Parastatals, Agencies, As State Assembly Elects Principal Officers

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has dissolved the board of all commissions, parastatals and agencies.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the chief executive officers of affected organisations were directed to hand over to administrative heads in their respective offices.

But the Civil Service Commission; Judicial Service Commission; Delta State Independent Electoral Commission; House of Assembly Service Commission; Local Government Service Commission; Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC); governing councils of educational institutions and Delta State Board of Internal Revenue were exempted from the dissolution.

Meanwhile, members of the state House of Assembly, yesterday, have elected principal officers for the 8th Assembly.

While the member representing Aniocha North State Constituency, Emeka Nwaobi, emerged Majority Leader, Festus Okoh, representing Ika South Constituency, emerged Deputy Majority Leader.

Also, Perkins Umukoro, representing Sapele Constituency was elected Chief Whip.

The House had, on June 13, elected Emomotimi Guwor and Arthur Akpowowo as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively.
