Delta NULGE State President, Ziko Okwudi Commends Aniocha North Council Branch Chairman, EXCO for Building Endearing Legacy For Workers

State President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee, (NULGE) Delta State, High Comrade Ziko Okwudi has expressed satisfaction with the achievement so far recorded by the Collins Ogwugwua led executive of the Union in Aniocha North Local Government Council.

Okwudi spoke recently in Issele-Uku when he paid an official visit to the Council for an on the spot assessment of the NULGE Event Centre project, being constructed by the branch union under the leadership of Comrade Collins Ogwugwua.

The NULGE State Boss, was full of praises for the Chairman and Executives of the branch union in Aniocha North Local Government Council and said he was highly delighted by the project, for the fact that it is an endearing legacy for the promotion and sustainability of the welfare of workers.

While describing the Event Centre project as a gigantic and well-thought out venture by the Comrade Collins Ogwugwua led Executives, Okwudi revealed that initially he doubted the possibility of them implementing the project plan when it was shown to him.

“I doubted it, but the thing is coming into reality. That a wonderful project such as this could be achieved by the leadership of our union in Aniocha North, I am so impressed and very happy, because this is an endearing legacy they are leaving behind for the promotion of the welfare of workers and it will continue to speak for them, even after they have left the office.

“What I have seen today in Aniocha North, goes a long way to show that this present leadership of NULGE, without messing words, has surpassed every other achievement so far recorded in the history of NULGE in this Local Government Council,” the State NULGE President affirmed.

Comrade Ziko Okwudi who is also the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Delta State, prayed for the Chairman and members of his executive, urging them not to relent in their efforts towards ensuring a better welfare for the workers in the Council.

He called on labour leaders to be innovative and strive towards leaving a Legacy for themselves.

“Leadership is not all about what to gain, but it is also what you will leave for your people, so that you will be remembered for it when you are no longer in a position of leadership and authority.

“For those who have the mind set of coming to grab and leave, what I have seen today is a challenge to them to also see how they can do something that will speak for them, even after they have left.

“Collins Ogwugwua and the present executives have set a record that people will want to see how they can beat the record they have set for themselves. I honestly commend them and call on them to continue to be united and committed to the cause of the workers in Aniocha North Local Government Council

Also in a chat with cshowcasenews.com, Comrade Collins Ogwugwua appreciated the State President of NULGE for the visit, saying that it was a great deal of joy and contentment having the renowned labour leader in the Council for an on the spot assessment of what they are doing for the workers.

“Since we commenced this project, this is the first visit our great NULGE leader will have to make and for me and members of my Executives, we are highly excited and very happy,” Ogwugwua said.

He maintained that the State NULGE President’s visit, coupled with his words of encouragement, will continue to be a great booster towards propelling them to march on relentlessly with the onerous task of projecting and promoting the welfare of workers in the council.

He appreciated the efforts of the Union building committee and said that the pace of work has been wonderful and commendable, even as he expressed the hope of completion of the project before the end of this year.

Ogwugwua appreciated well-meaning individuals who have contributed meaningfully to the project, most especially the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kevin Okwechime, who he noted has played a leading role more than a father in the project.

“Without the Executive Chairman we would not be here. We give him huge appreciation for his passion and for believing in the project. We will continue to be grateful to him for all of his efforts to see that our vision of a comprehensive Aniocha North Local Government Council NULGE Event Centre comes to reality.

“I want to be appreciative of the members of my Executive. Without them, honestly we would not have commenced with this project. It was a huge sacrifice on their part, to have given what ordinarily they should have taken home, to start off the work. I am appreciative of their individual and collective efforts,” the NULGE branch Chairman stated.

The Ongoing NULGE Event Centre in the Council was started in March 2021. It comprised an ultra-modern auditorium with capacity for over five hundred persons, offices for the Chairman and Executives members of the Union, a conference room, toilet facilities, recreational and dressing room, stalls as well as an underground water facility for regular supply of water to the complex.
