The former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, OON, has assured the people of Issele-Asagba in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State that electricity supply to the community will be restored within two weeks through the provision of a power transformer in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye.

Elumelu gave the assurance on Monday, October 12, 2026, during the continuation of the Aniocha North Local Government Mega Empowerment Programme in State Ward 6, Issele-Asagba, where 200 beneficiaries received non-refundable cash grants totalling ₦10 million to support their small businesses, trading activities, farming and household needs.
The intervention, facilitated by the Aniocha North Local Government through the Ward 6 Councillor, Hon. Peter Nwakwushue, forms part of the Chinye administration’s commitment to grassroots economic empowerment, improved livelihoods and inclusive development across communities in Aniocha North.
The event, supervised by the Executive Chairman, attracted prominent political leaders and stakeholders, including Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu; Chief Nkem Okwuofu, former Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Barr. Chief Krees Njiokwuemeni, APC Delta State Legal Adviser; Sir Mathew Chinye, APC Chairman in Aniocha North; Hon. Engr. Fidel Onwodi, APC candidate for Aniocha North Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly; Dr. Alex Awunor, APC candidate for Aniocha North Constituency II; and other party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Elumelu responded to the community’s electricity challenge after the APC Ward Chairman, Prince Francis Obi, identified the need for a power transformer as one of the pressing concerns of residents.
The former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives assured the people that he would collaborate with Chinye to provide the required transformer and facilitate the restoration of electricity within two weeks.
He expressed confidence that the intervention would bring relief to residents and stimulate social and economic activities in the community.
The pledge was a major highlight of the programme, bringing the issue of critical community infrastructure into focus alongside the financial assistance provided to local traders, farmers and other residents.
The electricity challenge, which has persisted for two years, has affected the community’s access to reliable power for domestic and commercial activities.
The proposed transformer intervention is expected to ease the hardship faced by residents and traders when the equipment is provided and installed.
Elumelu also maintained his passionate call for the people of Aniocha North, including the people of Issele-Asagba to work towards delivering all APC candidates; the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, himself; Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, and Engr. Fidel Onwodi as well as Dr Alex Awunor.
Chief Nkem Okwuofu, in her remarks, urged party members and supporters to take the forthcoming general election seriously by mobilising voters in their respective units. She charged them to return to their communities and work towards the electoral success of APC candidates, from the presidential election to the Delta State House of Assembly.
Speaking on the rationale behind the empowerment programme, Chinye said the initiative was consistent with his administration’s commitment to providing non-refundable grants to traders, market women, petty traders and households to strengthen their economic activities.
According to him, the programme was designed to reach people at the grassroots, particularly those operating small businesses and other income-generating ventures who require financial assistance to sustain and expand their activities.
The chairman explained that the disbursement of ₦10 million to 200 beneficiaries in Issele-Asagba, facilitated through the Ward 6 Councillor, represented another step towards fulfilling his administration’s commitment to improving residents’ welfare and expanding economic opportunities across the local government area.
He assured the people that more empowerment initiatives would follow, reaffirming his administration’s determination to extend the benefits of its programmes to communities throughout Aniocha North.
Chinye also thanked the people of Issele-Asagba for their continued support for the APC and appealed to them to sustain that support by voting for the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, the party’s candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives, and its candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly.
The APC candidate for Aniocha North Constituency I, Hon. Engr. Fidel Onwodi, assured the people of quality representation in the Delta State House of Assembly if elected in 2027.
Onwodi appealed to the electorate to support APC candidates at all levels, maintaining that the party remained committed to addressing the needs of the people and advancing development across the constituency.
Other speakers included the former Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly and APC Delta State Legal Adviser, Hon. Barr. Krees Njiokwuemeni; Sir Mathew Chinye; Prince Uzoma Idabor; Chief Paul Ngbanwa; former APC Chairman in Aniocha North, Hon. Richard Anonyei; and the APC Ward Chairman in Issele-Asagba, Prince Francis Obi.
While assuring unprecedented victory for the Party in all the elections, they also called on party members and supporters to mobilise for the victory of APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The Issele-Asagba exercise represents another phase of the Aniocha North Mega Empowerment Programme, which the Chinye administration has been implementing through ward-level interventions to bring financial assistance closer to residents and support local economic activities.
The programme reflects the administration’s broader vision of inclusive grassroots development, with non-refundable grants providing immediate financial support to beneficiaries seeking to sustain their livelihoods and strengthen their businesses.
With 200 residents benefiting from the ₦10 million intervention and Elumelu pledging to work with Chinye towards restoring electricity within two weeks, the event reaffirmed the twin priorities of economic empowerment and essential community infrastructure.
Residents of Issele-Asagba will now look forward to the fulfilment of the transformer pledge, while the beneficiaries are expected to deploy the grants towards strengthening their businesses, sustaining their livelihoods and meeting pressing household needs.
