Kandy Sea, the Delta born charismatic reggae exponent has unveiled series of activities for the celebration of his 30th anniversary in the music and entertainment industry.
Briefing Journalists on Monday September 6, 2021 in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Kandy Sea said that for three decades, he has remained focused and unshaken even in the face of different turbulent tempest in his career, saying that there was no better way to celebrate than to appreciate God and the society.
“Needless to start recounting my ordeals and pains over the years as i struggled to remain relevant in the music industry, it is a known fact that at a time in history of reggae music in Nigeria, only me Kandy Sea and Orits Wiliki were the two remaining while others had left the country to Europe or American for greener pastures,” the renowned Reggae musician said.
He said that inspite of the pressures, he refused to either dent his name by way of quest for quick wealth through drug trafficking or other illegal money making ventures, even as he revealed that series of proposals for such illegal money gambles were received and rejected.
“Many may say that society does not favour my type because it looks obvious in that light today. In case, I may not have been very popular as a musician, I may not have been very rich too but Kandy Sea can raise his head high and talk very loudly anywhere because I have been diligent and modest in all. Take it or leave it, Kandy Sea is a brand that can recycle.
“For this reason I am marking these 3 decades of handwork with so much desire. Amongst them is to seriously lend my voice to the cry by the society towards vices that go on in the entertainment industry generally and music in particular. These vices include immoralities, drugs and different kinds of financial rascality.
He said that the anniversary celebration activities has commenced with talent hunt in music, dance and comedy on Sunday September 5, 2021, while revealing that the hunt will take them to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku on the 10th, Delta State University, Abraka on the 16th and 17th while Delta State University, Agbor comes up on the 24th of this month.
“There is no better way to start a change than from the young ones. For this reason, I am establishing an Art Academy. This academy will take off effectively after my anniversary celebrations,” Kandy Sea Stated.
Kandy Sea also revealed that the audition final shall be on Thursday 30th September, 2021 at the Asaba squash Club, Asaba, saying that it will be followed by professional performing artistry, while assuring that the up coming artistes shall be further developed by exposing them to concerts that will take place in Issele-Azagba, Issele-uku, Warri and finally at squash Club Asaba.
He said that the final anniversary ceremony concert comes up on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Sweet Spirit Hotel by Okpanam Road Asaba with the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa being expected to grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour
“This concert marks the climax and end of the anniversary. The concert is going to be strictly by invitation with a table of four going for one hundred thousand naira only,” he revealed and said that Guests of Honour includes the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other members of the House of Assembly.
Also specially invited according to Kandy Sea are Commissioners, Executive and Special Assistants in charge of Information, Media, Arts, Culture and Tourism as well as notable traditional rulers in the State.
