Onwodi Emerges Unopposed APC Flag Bearer for Aniocha North Assembly Seat, Polls 10,122 Votes

Engr. Fidel Onwodi has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Aniocha North State Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election, after securing a unanimous victory in the party’s direct primary election.

The primary election, conducted across the 10 wards of Aniocha North Local Government Area on Wednesday, saw Onwodi polling a total of 10,122 votes without opposition, affirming the earlier consensus arrangement that favoured his candidature.

The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while security agencies were deployed across the wards to maintain peace and ensure a hitch-free process.

Announcing the results at the Collins Ogwugwua NULGE Event Centre in Issele-Uku, the State Constituency Collation Officer, Mr. Godknows Angele, said all the ward returning officers had successfully collated and submitted their results.

“In Aniocha North where we have the headquarters as Issele-Uku, we have 10 wards in Aniocha North and all 10 ward returning officers have collated their results,” he stated.

“I was told that the candidate, Engr. Fidel Onwodi, is a consensus candidate, but the people deemed it fit to go to the field and vote for him.

“By my records, I have only one candidate that people voted for and the person is Engr. Fidel Onwodi.

“All the total votes from the 10 wards in Aniocha North, Engr. Fidel Onwodi got a total of 10,122 votes.

“Since there is no other candidate, the other space is nil and by the power vested on me as returning officer and by the votes cast, the only candidate is hereby returned unopposed,” Angele declared.

In his acceptance speech, Onwodi expressed gratitude to APC leaders and members in Aniocha North for their support, confidence and acceptance of his candidacy.

He described the mandate as a collective responsibility and urged party faithful to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 general election.

“The task ahead is enormous and I call on all our supporters and party members to remain steadfast and relentless in their support and commitment to the APC because the work is for all Aniocha North people,” he said.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye, commended party leaders, members and supporters for their massive turnout during the primary election.

He urged the electorate to sustain the momentum by voting massively for all APC candidates during the 2027 general elections, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and Engr Fidel Onwodi.

Chinye prayed for God’s protection and grace upon party members as they prepare for victory in the forthcoming elections.

In an interview, Prince Uzoma Idabor also applauded the overwhelming support shown by APC members and residents across the 10 wards of Aniocha North, calling on party stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively towards the development of the local government area.
