The Action Collective has sounded the alarm over what it calls a desperate and politically driven attempt by Senate President Godswill Akpabio to undermine Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a fiery statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mr. Teddy Onyejuwe, the group described recent legal actions against the Kogi Central senator as “shameful” and “a dangerous abuse of power.”
“The frantic efforts by federal government lawyers—allegedly acting on Akpabio’s orders—to drag Senator Natasha to court, including a failed bid to secure a bench warrant, have shocked Nigerians,” the group said.
Commending the presiding judge for rejecting the request, the Collective accused Akpabio’s camp of weaponising the justice system for a political vendetta. They also pointed to earlier moves—like the botched recall effort and alleged misuse of state power—as part of a pattern to silence the senator.
“Despite the intimidation, Natasha remains calm, focused, and committed to delivering for her constituents,” the group declared.
Calling President Bola Tinubu to step in, the Collective urged the presidency to dissociate from what it called a “fraudulent act of desperation,” warning that silence could be seen as complicity.
It also rallied civil society, the international community, and ordinary Nigerians to speak out. “Only vigilance can stop this dangerous slide into judicial manipulation,” the statement said.
While expressing faith in the judiciary, the group reaffirmed its support for Senator Natasha and pledged to keep defending justice wherever it was threatened.
