The Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, on Friday, March 20, 2026 successfully concluded the final phase of his 2027 re-election consultation and interactive meetings with critical leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress across the four Local Government Areas of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State expressing support and solidarity for his return to the House of Representatives.
The strategic consultations ahead of the APC primaries reached a highpoint with a grand engagement with party leaders and stakeholders at the APC secretariat in Oshimili South Local Government Area.
Elumelu was accompanied by key members of his campaign structure, including Chairman Chief Edwin Uzor, Vice Chairman Hon. Austin Chikazia, Director General Dr. Darlington Ijah, and Secretary Ogbueshi Ijeasokwu Chika.
Among those in attendance were the Oshimili South APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okolo, member representing Oshimili South State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, and respected party stalwart Ogbueshi Anselm Oniawa, alongside other influential leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Elumelu underscored the strategic importance of engaging party leaders in the process of selecting the party’s flagbearer, particularly in line with the APC’s constitutional provisions on direct primaries and consensus arrangements. He outlined the procedural framework for the party’s primary elections while presenting a comprehensive account of his legislative achievements during his tenure in the National Assembly.
He highlighted impactful interventions across key sectors including security, healthcare, power, riverine transportation, infrastructure development, human capital advancement, and the strengthening of traditional institutions. These, he noted, have delivered measurable benefits to communities across Oshimili South and the wider Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
Elumelu also acknowledged ongoing developmental strides in the state, particularly commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the construction and commissioning of a 4.8-kilometre road in Oko, which has significantly improved access and economic activities in the area. He further recalled his intervention in providing eight 22-seater buses to ease transportation challenges for residents of the Oko axis.
On the long-anticipated Asaba Massacre Monument Project, Elumelu clarified that the initiative suffered a setback due to the non-availability of land, despite substantial budgetary provisions and partial fund releases. He reaffirmed his commitment to revisiting and actualizing the project, describing it as a sincere effort to preserve history and honour the memory of victims. He also paid tribute to the late Asagba of Asaba for his dedication to the project.
Reiterating his vision, Elumelu emphasized the need for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency to reclaim its leadership position in national representation. He stressed that effective representation requires influence, experience, and capacity to attract federal presence and development to the constituency.
He appealed to party leaders to support his aspiration to secure the APC ticket for the House of Representatives seat in 2027, expressing confidence that his track record and continued engagement would earn their mandate.
In response, Oshimili South APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okolo, assured that the leaders would carefully consider Elumelu’s presentation and achievements. He noted that a collective decision would be reached in consultation with leaders across the four Local Government Areas of the constituency, guided by the overall interest of the people.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Elumelu expressed deep appreciation to APC chairmen, executives at local and ward levels, and party leaders across the constituency for the warm reception accorded him throughout the consultation tour. He described the support as encouraging and pledged not to take it for granted.
He also commended members of his campaign council for their dedication and resilience, expressing optimism that their collective efforts would yield positive outcomes as the political process unfolds toward 2027.
