2027: Elumelu Visits Ajuduas in Ibusa, Secures Strong Backing for Reps Bid

The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, OON, on Monday, April 27, 2026, continued his wide-ranging consultations ahead of the forthcoming elections with a strategic visit to prominent political leader, Chief Fred Ajudua, and his wife, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, at their country home in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Elumelu, who is seeking to represent the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was accompanied by the full complement of the leadership of the Ndudi Godwin Elumelu Campaign Council.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Fred Ajudua emphasized the need for what he described as “qualitative politicking” in the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, cautioning against what he termed modern-day tribal politics capable of breeding disunity and segregation among the people. He stressed that unity of purpose remains the cornerstone of enduring political leadership in the constituency.

Ajudua described Elumelu as a man of great substance who, despite coming from the renowned Elumelu family, has remained humble and endearing. He expressed strong confidence in Elumelu’s candidacy, declaring both the forthcoming party primaries and general election as a “done deal” for the former Minority Leader.

He further called for sustained leadership in the constituency, noting that the four local government areas that make up the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency share deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties that must not be undermined by divisive tendencies.

“When we begin to introduce tribal sentiments and unnecessary arguments about shifting power, we derail progress. Enough is enough. What we need now is qualitative politicking that prioritizes development and unity,” Ajudua said.

The respected political leader also lauded the entrepreneurial pedigree of the Elumelu family, stating that their excellence in business and other spheres of life deserves recognition and respect in the political space.

Flanked by his wife, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, he appreciated the Delta State Governor and the Elumelu family for their support during his personal challenges, assuring that the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency remains firmly aligned with the APC, the President, the Governor, and Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu.

Ajudua underscored that the people of Oshimili North would work in synergy with their counterparts in Oshimili South, Aniocha North, and Aniocha South to ensure Elumelu’s victory, attributing this support to his proven capacity, wisdom, experience, performance, and intellectual depth.

He described the “Elumelu phenomenon” as one that must be politically protected, noting that leadership is not about luxury but about providing direction for the people. According to him, while politicians focus on the next election, statesmen focus on the next generation.

“This election is already settled, both physically and spiritually. What we should be discussing is how to sustain the leadership of our constituency for continued development, and Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu remains a critical factor in that equation,” he added.

On the issue of zoning and rotation, Ajudua firmly rejected its application in the constituency, arguing that performance, capacity, and fairness in the distribution of development across the Federal Constituency should remain the determining factors for leadership continuity.

“If a leader is performing, power should not shift. But if he is not, then it can move. As long as Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu continues to demonstrate competence and fairness, he deserves to remain,” he stated.

He concluded by offering prayers for Elumelu, asking God to honor him as he has honored the leaders and people of the constituency, while also urging him to continue empowering the people and attracting impactful projects.

Earlier in his remarks, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu said his visit was in continuation of consultations with key stakeholders and leaders across the constituency, describing Chief Ajudua as a respected voice whose counsel remains invaluable.

Elumelu highlighted his achievements during his previous tenure in the House of Representatives, particularly in the areas of healthcare, power, education, infrastructure, employment, and human capital development.

He also reflected on the strategic leadership position the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency once enjoyed at the National Assembly during his time, expressing concern over what he described as its current relegation.

“I am seeking to return to the House of Representatives to help restore the lost glory of our constituency at the National Assembly and to further consolidate on the gains we have already made,” Elumelu stated.

The visit is part of a broader consultation drive by the former Minority Leader as he intensifies engagement with political leaders and stakeholders in his quest to once again represent the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
