The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful rescue of a woman, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were rescued unharmed during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the mother and her twin sons were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while she was driving the children to school in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 a.m.
The Police disclosed that the successful operation followed days of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical manoeuvres that enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and pinpoint their location.
The operation culminated in a confrontation between the kidnappers and FID-IRT operatives, during which two suspected members of the criminal gang were fatally wounded. Two rifles were also recovered from the suspects.
The rescued victims were said to be in good condition and have been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.
Commending the operatives involved in the mission, the Inspector-General of Police praised their courage, professionalism, and resilience, noting that their dedication was instrumental in ensuring the safe rescue of the hostages.
“Their commitment and effectiveness were critical to the successful outcome of the operation,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation. Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds.
The Police assured the public that ongoing operations are aimed at tracking down and bringing all those connected with the abduction to justice.
The Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their support, cooperation, and patience throughout the rescue operation, reaffirming its commitment to combating violent crime and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
