Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, and formally adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Elumelu and other APC candidates as their consensus candidates for the forthcoming general elections.
The endorsement was one of the major outcomes of a town hall meeting between Rt. Hon. Elumelu and prominent Asaba age grades held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the MOD Event Centre, Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State.
The meeting, convened at the instance of the Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, was led by the Eze Ogbo Ahaba, Ogbueshi Obodo, alongside leaders and members of the four renowned Asaba age grades: Watawelinke, Onyejisike, Onyechukwuchibeze and Ifeonyewepuanya, who are widely regarded as influential opinion leaders and custodians of the socio-cultural values of the state capital.

Addressing the gathering, Rt. Hon. Elumelu said the meeting was convened to foster a robust engagement on the future of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, with particular emphasis on the continued development of Asaba and the overall advancement of the constituency.
Describing himself as a son-in-law of Asaba by virtue of his marriage, Elumelu stressed that his relationship with the community transcends politics, noting that his commitment has always been driven by the desire to deliver sustainable development and improve the living conditions of the people.
He outlined several signature projects and strategic interventions he attracted during his tenure in the House of Representatives, particularly while serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Power.
According to him, these include the construction of the ₦9.6 billion 132/33KV Transmission Substation in Asaba, the establishment of the BEDC headquarters in the state capital, the provision of over 40 utility vehicles, distribution of 21 electricity transformers, installation of solar-powered street lights and the construction of 10 electricity distribution substations across communities.
Elumelu also recalled his contributions to the health sector while serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Health, citing major infrastructural upgrades at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, the establishment of the College of Nursing Sciences, and the construction and upgrading of healthcare facilities within the constituency.
On security, he said he facilitated the construction of key infrastructure for security agencies, including police facilities, operational buildings for the Department of State Services (DSS), residential accommodation for personnel and the conversion of existing structures into functional medical clinics to strengthen security operations in the area.
The APC House of Representatives candidate further pointed to his investments in human capital development through scholarships and educational support programmes, which, according to him, have produced medical doctors, information technology professionals and other skilled manpower now contributing meaningfully to society.
He disclosed that one of his legislative priorities, if returned to the National Assembly, would be to pursue the conversion of the College of Education (Technical), Asaba, into a Federal University of Technology, explaining that the bill had already secured passage by both chambers of the National Assembly before the expiration of the previous administration.
Elumelu further informed the gathering that Aniocha North Constituency II, whose creation he championed from conception to completion, had received all the necessary approvals.
He added that sustained efforts were ongoing not only to facilitate the restoration of Aniocha North Constituency I, but also to secure the establishment of additional State Constituencies in Oshimili South and Oshimili North, with a view to ensuring more equitable representation and accelerating grassroots development across the federal constituency.
Speaking on national and state politics, Elumelu urged the people to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending the President for his economic reforms and for working closely with Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori in advancing development across Delta State.
He equally praised Governor Oborevwori for what he described as his people-oriented projects, particularly the ongoing sector-by-sector reconstruction of the Oko Road, while recalling that he personally facilitated the construction of a jetty and donated nine speedboats to improve transportation for riverine communities.
The former Minority Leader emphasized that effective representation requires experience, legislative knowledge and the capacity to attract meaningful development projects, maintaining that the progress of the constituency should take precedence over personal sentiments.
He also addressed issues surrounding the proposed Asaba Massacre Monument, expressing appreciation to the Asagba of Asaba for his understanding of the facts surrounding the project and for extending his royal blessings and endorsement. Elumelu, who was recently appointed a member of the Asaba Massacre Monument Building Committee, expressed confidence that the project would soon become a reality.
Calling for collective action, he urged the people to unite in support of the APC at all levels, stressing that the continued development of Asaba, the federal constituency and Delta State depends on electing leaders with proven records of performance.
In his remarks, the Eze Ogbo Ahaba, Ogbueshi Obodo, commended Rt. Hon. Elumelu for what he described as an unmatched record of developmental achievements in Asaba and the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, assuring him of the total support of the Asaba people ahead of the 2027 general election.
Also speaking, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, described Elumelu as a dependable son-in-law who has consistently demonstrated genuine love, commitment and selfless service to the people of Asaba through numerous developmental initiatives.
The Deputy Chairman of the APC in Delta State, Elder Moses Iduh, described Elumelu as a courageous, focused and result-oriented leader, urging party faithful to mobilise support for all APC candidates from the presidential election to the State House of Assembly polls.
The highlight of the meeting was the unanimous adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and Barrister Bridget Anyafulu, alongside other APC candidates, as the consensus candidates of the Asaba age grades for the 2027 general elections.
